The Book of Eli

The Book of Eli was released in 2010, this movie is a post apocalyptic story starring Denzel Washington as Eli. The movie begins as Eli is in the ashy remains of a forest and a hairless cat is standing 50-60 yards away from him, he releases a large arrow from a bow he made with his feet. This shows how post apocalyptic the story line is. Eli has been walking for 32 years because he was told by God to take the Bible to the west and he would be protected on this journey. All of this started when the wars burned a whole in the sky and the sun came down and burned up all the earth. Eli is well on his way when he gets to a town that is ran by a man named Carnagie. Carnagie pays men to go out and kill innocent people in an attempt to find a Bible so that he can expand his township and gain power. Eli gets into a confrontation at Carnagie's pub and this is when Carnagie figures out Eli is a literate man from the before the time and forces Eli to stay one night and consider an offer to work for him.

Carnagie discovers the very book he is looking for is right under his nose and tries to stop Eli but Eli is protected by God. Eli is on his way again when he is joined by Solara, Carnagies step daughter, she wants to get away from the town. They make to a strange house where Eli gives the book away to save Solara and is then shot. In a series of events Solara steal a vehicle and and takes Eli West to Alcatraz.

At Alcatraz there was a society of scholars trying to restore everything that makes up history. Eli tells them his has a Bible to give them and when the man asked to see it Eli has him get a paper and right it out word for word. It is then revealed that Eli is blind from the big flash that came from the war. When Carngaie opens the Bible he finds out it is written in brail and his world is destroyed and his whole empire crashes because he lost too many men getting the book he cant read.

This movie is an awesome story line filled with adventure mystery and action. I recommend this movie to everyone but there is some blood and fighting scenes with  killing.

You Don't Mess With the Zohan

You Don't Mess With the Zohan was released June 6, 2008 so technically it isnt a new release but its a change of pace from my noraml movies. This movie is more of a family friendly movie that is easily understood and filled with comedy. The main star is Adam Sandler as Zohan a kind hearted, extrodinary strenghted, soldier and counter terrorist for Isreal.

The movie starts with Zohan faking his own death to escaped a palestinian terrorist named Phantom and come to America to follow his dream of becoming a hairdresser. He changes his name to Scrappy Coco and becomes a helper at a salon for no pay. All he wants to is cut hair but the owner is already about to lose her shop to developers and doesn't want to take the chance. When a stylist quits, Dalia, the shop owner is foced to let Scrappy cut hair. Scrappy is an amazing hair stylist and brings in lots of revenue, but when a cab driver from Palastine sees Scrappy he takes it apawn himslef to kill him by letting Phantom know that the Zohan is still alive.

The Evil large developers hire arsonist to destroy the Dalia's shop but when Scrappy arrives to save the day Phantom is there and it is revealed the Dalia is Phantoms sister. Phantom and Scrappy team up when Phantoms explains he has always wanted to be a shoe salesmen and not a terrorist. Together they save the day and open their own shops in the new mall, following their dreams of hairstyling and sellign shoes.

This movie for the most part is PG but some parts some comedy in it is for adults. I recomend this movie because it is halarious and, in my opinion, any movie with Adam Sandler is a good movie. Rob snyder also makes an appearance which makes it that much better.

Locked Down

The main star in Locked Down is Danny a respected hero cop that comes from a long line family line of cops. All is going good until he is framed and put in jail by a Vargus, a mob boss that Danny put in jail. Danny is sent to the very prison where all the hard  criminals  that he put away. To survive Danny must join a underground fight league put together by Vargus. The fight league is a big profit maker from prison to prison, Danny joins to get justice and live long enough to clear his family name. If he doesnt fight he will be killed by the mob boss. He is trained by his cell mate which is an ex karate teacher.

Danny wins all battles easily but the final battle is to the death and Danny must survive just a little longer while internal affairs clears his name. In the end fight Danny's trainer is killed and he uses that to propel him to destroy everyone and his name cleared as the cops break into the corrupt jail right as Danny wins. With his name cleared and out of jail Danny helps his trainers family and dates the girl from internal affairs that helped him.

This movie is one of the better fight movies in my opinion because the fight scenes are very well put together. Most movies of this type are not very good choreographed.  I wold recommended this movie to people that like UFC and WEC type aciton. The movie is produced by Tap Out, sponsor of Ultimate Fighting, so it is accurate with the moves and technical fight scenes.

Paranormal Activity 2

Paranormal Activity 2 is in my opinion double the scary frightening movie the first movie was. It starts out with a family just settling a newborn baby in their house. It so happens that the baby was the first born male on the mothers side of the family. This is importan because the moms grandmother made a deal with demons for riches and wealth in return for the first born male. So as soon as the baby is born a demon from the mom and aunts past starts to present itself. The activity starts slowly at first with shaking pots and random small things happening and no one but the mother pays attention.

The family starts to open their eyes after their house is torn up when they return from vaction. The parents Kristi and Dan Rey have multiple cameras installed throughout the house and when they review the tapes strange things appear. This continues until one night the mother is beat and drug down to the basement by an invisble demon and comes out hours later with a blank stair. The following days Kristi is acting wierd everything goes bad when Kristi and  her step daughter Ali are at home watching hunter, the newborn. Ali goes up stairs because hunter is crying and she peeks in the door and Kristi has a bite on her leg, Ali then goes to pick up Hunter but Kristi goes crazy.

When Dan comes home early Ali is crying and explains everything and that her research leads her to believe that there is a demon present. The housekeeper comes over and explains what they must do to save Kristi and Hunter which is present a oily cross to the demon. Its not as easy as it sounds, a long battle between Kristi and Dan ensues but Dan gets the child and transfers the demon to Kristi's sister Katie. Everything seems okay until three weeks later Katie shows up at Hunters house. Katie, now possesed with the demon, first kills Micah, her husband, then kills Dan and Kristi. Ali was away at the time and found the bodies later. According to the producer of the movie this is based on a true story and no one knows the where abouts of Kaite and Hunter.

I think this movie waqs awesome and probably one of the scariest movies i have ever seen. I dont recommend this movie if the viewer is easlily scared or has bladder control issues. This is movie is only in theatres and is sequel to the first Paranormal Activity which takes place in the three week timespan when Katie becomes possesed.

District 9

This movie is a based around a UFO landing over Johannesburg, South Africa. The aliens were stuck in their ship and lacking supplies. The aliens are put in the a camp and after 20 years the South African goverment hires MNU, a weapon manufactor, to relocated the prawns.

Wickus, the main character, is given the job of giving all the prawns or aliens an eviction notice. The MNU is in charge of searching the prawns houses for illegal weapons and drugs.Everything is going good for Wickus until he opens a conatiner of fluid Christopher Johnson, a prawn, has been collecitong for twenty years in order to provide fuel to go to the mother ship. Wickus gets the fluid all over his face and begins to change into a prawn slowly. The MNU wants him because he is the only human that can fire the alien weapons. THhis interest MNU because they are a weapon manufactor and there is billions of dollars potential if they can harvest his DNA. Wickus seeks help from the Chris to change him back to noraml, Chris needs the fuel to leave earth to get help. They break into MNU and take the fuel but all goes wrong when they are shot down. Will they return or be killed on earth while the prawns are doomed to confinement on earth.

I liked this movie because it raises your thoughts to, what if? At the same token while i watch this movie i fell dirty and gross because it takes place in the slums of Johannesburg. The prawns favorite food is cat food whic also makes me sick so i recommend if you have a weak stomache to avoid this movie.

The Town

The Town takes place in Boston where many banks have and are robbed every year. The  tought streets of Charlestown that are in Boston basicaly breeds bank robbers. The robbers work in a team of four, but the main character is Doug MacRay, played by Ben Affleck. The team of robbers hit a bank right away in the begging of the movie and take a hostage. Doug then has to watch her to make sure she doesnt tell on them to the FBI. He ends up falling in love with this hostage. At the same time the team is planning another robbery, but doug  wants out of the game but he is forced to do the job by them man that killed his mother. The crew does the job but everyone but doug gets killed in during this job. Doug escapes with some of the cash and goes straight to the man that killed his mother and kills him. The last thing Doug did was call the love of his life, the hostage, and leave her some money. The robbers all wanted out and Doug was the only one to get out, not quite the way he wanted, but he got out.

My opinion of this movie is that its an ok movie filled with a decent amount of action and mystery but it is long and drawn out. The movie needs to just get to the point instead of dragging it out. If you as a movie watcher are into mystery, action, and movies based on true stories this movie is for you.

The Fourth Kind

The Fourth Kind  starts out with the main character Abigail Tyler, a psychologist in Nome, Alaska, being interviewed on the talk show Chapman University. The strange events started when Abby's husband was murdered in his sleep. She keeps working and taking care of the kids in attempt to forget. Even stranger things happen when Abby goes back to Alaska to meet with three patients that all say the same thing, that an owl visits them at night. She hypnotizes the fist patient and he starts yelling so she wakes him up and he wont talk about what he seen then leaves. But when Tommy, the fist patient leaves, he goes home and holds hisfamily hostage at gun point and demands the Abby comes and talks to him. She talks to Tommy and he is confused then he kills his himself and his family. Everyone thinks that it was because of the therapy.

The second patient is Scott and Abby decides to put him under hypnosis with the presents of a colleague named Dr. Campos. Scott starts screaming and talking in another language. Abby then request that her secretary listens to her audio tape from the night before. The tape has her falling asleep then screaming and talking in wierd tongue and then silence. When Abby goes to inspect her room there are scratch marks on the floor. Abyy then states that she thinks they were attacked by Aliens. All starts to go dwon hil when a summerian translator comes and translates the ancient language spoken by everyone under hyposis. Then Abby puts Scott under hypnosis and his house, when under he yells, screams, then levatates of the ground. Its revealed that scott yelled so hard he broke his neck and Abby is blamed. That night Abby's daughter is taken from her by a beam of light throught the wall.

Abby attempts to contact the aliens by going under hypnosis and what she finds is that the aliens have here daughter and wont give her back and they claim to be God. Abby yelled levatated and broke her neck while under. She never finds her daughter and remains a skeptic.

The Crazies

Before  you read this summary you should know that htis movie is a horror movie. Strange things are happening in Ogden Marsh and its because of a plane containing a biological weapon named trixie. Trixie landed in the local water supply on its way to incineration. The affects are devastating, they cause only humans  to lose their mind and do the craziest things possible. At one point a man locks his wife and sone in the closet of there house and then burns the hous down.The race for Ogden Marsh residents starts when the U.S. army initiate containment protocol. The army comes in to clean up there mess by killing off all residents and burning them alive. The main stars escape to the next town before the U.S. A-bombs the city.

This movie is my type of movie because it contains horror with some mystery. It also provacts my curiosity because of the fact that this could have haappened before. I recommend this movie but not if you scare easily or have nightmares.

Hot Tub Time Machine

This comedy stars John Cussack, Rod Corddry, Craig Robinson, and Clark Duke. The Four friends lives were heading down hill fast when one friends life about ended and brought them together. Lou, fourth friend, tried to kill himself and thats when Adam, Jacob, Nick decide to take Lou back to there favorite hangout. The four friends head up to a Kodiak Valley where they realize  the town isnt what it used to be and its not quite as much fun either. In the mitsed if boredom they find a hot tub that three hours earlier contained a dead raccoon. The friends decided to have fun like the old times and thats when a russin energy drink is spilled on the controls and opens a worm hole sending them back in time.

The friends found themselves back in Winterfest 86' where to each other they still look adult but to everyone else they look young again. They must do everthing the same as in the past to avoid changing the future. The friends have a hard time getting back to the future because the spilled energy drink is what disrupted the hot tub and made it a time machine. When they finally get ready to leave Lou decides to stay because he got a second chance at life. When the three other friends get back to the future Lou has all of there lives in ordered and the old because Lou used his knowledge of the future to exploit certain opertunities.

Cop Out

This movie stars Bruce Willis as Jimmy and Tracy Morgan as Paul his partner. Jimmy and Paul and are NYPD police officers that are fresh off a recent suspension from the force for blowing a big assignment. Jimmy has daughter that is getting married and has alot of stress put on him financialy from his ex wifes husband. To pay for the wedding he decides to sell his mint-condition baseball card. When jimmy goes to sell his baseball card it gets stolen and the chase begins.

The two partners are in a chase for the card when larger cases start to open up. They are stuck in a perdictament when they have a chance to get the card or to solve many cases.  Jimmy and Paul decide to take the heroic route and get there jobs back with an honor award from the NYPD.

Cop Out is a movie for people that like comedy mixed in with action and bravery. Jimmy is a rough cop that only cares for his daughter for example in the movie he and his ex-wifes husband get in a word battle about Jimmy's daughter. Paul is just a loud mouth funny wing man to Jimmy but underneath all of the jokes he always has Jimmy's back. This shown at the end of the movie when the priest asks who gives away the daighter and Jimmy stands up while Paul sticks a gun to the step dads back and makes him sit even thoughhe ended up paying for the wedding.                      

She is out of My League

Kirk the main actor is a nerdy TSA airport worker in Pittsburg. His life is pretty monotonous until one day he a hard 10 blonde falls into his life. Molly is not only good looking but she is successful in her career as a lawyer. It all starts when Molly leaves her phone and Kirk finds it. They end up goingf out on a date and Molly sees him as a safe guy to date. Kirk works with his friends and they dont believe there is any way she could be with him. The whole time Molly's ex-boyfriend which is a stud pilot is trying to get back in her life. Kirks friends offer him bad advice through out the movie also. The combination of Kirks friends and Molly ex contribute to their first test of their relationship in which the break through the norm and become a couple.

This is a hilarious comedy about relationships filled with witt. I liked this movie bacause of this fact of the non typical happening and someone breaking the norm which always gives an audience hope. This incorpraited with humor and jokes makes this a top new release in my opinion.

                                                                Takers

This new release starring T.I. was full of drama, action, and mystery. The main star T.I. played a freshly released convict with a big plan to hijack money from two armored cars. To do this he returns to his old crew that is thriving without him and basically forgot him. The crew pulls off jobs flawlesly and the police have no leads. When T.I returns he explains the one last job he has.The job that T.I. had planned was one big scheme to kill all of his old crew because of their betrayal.

At first the crew was on the fence about the new job with ghost (T.I.) but was excited with 25 million dollar pay out. The seemed to be going flawlessly until there plan to blow the road and have the armored truck fall in the hole went wrong and from then on the action kept going and they thieves empire kept crashing while the mystery unraveled. You will have to watch this movie to see the end result its action packed.

I recommend this movie because of the action and mystery is unbearable. T.I. plays a villain to expertise. The thieves in the movie live the lives most kids would like and that really draws in people and it always makes a movie better when there is something that interests you. The one thing this movie left me wondering is if robberies like this actually happen every day and we just don’t hear about them or they are covered up.
